PROJECT 02 BRAND IDENTITY
02 / 04
BEAUTY WITHOUT THE NOISE.

LUMA BEAUTY

Soft, considered and quietly confident.

LUMA BEAUTY is a beauty identity built around restraint, softness and confidence. The brand creates presence through thoughtful decisions rather than visual excess.

SELECTED CONCEPT VØLTRA / 2026
01 CONTEXT + DIAGNOSIS

Finding distinction in a category built on sameness.

Beauty brands often compete through similar visual codes: softness, neutrality, minimalism and aspirational language. LUMA needs to work within that world without becoming interchangeable.

CURRENT LANDSCAPE

Beauty is visually crowded, even when everything looks minimal.

The category has moved away from overtly glamorous branding toward quieter, more editorial identities. The result is a market where restraint itself has become familiar.

For LUMA, simply looking clean or premium is not enough. The brand needs a recognizable point of view inside a visual language audiences already understand.

Four recurring behaviors create the greatest risk of blending in.

01

Neutrality without identity.

Soft palettes can communicate sophistication, but when color, typography and composition behave exactly like competitors, the brand becomes difficult to remember.

02

Minimalism without meaning.

Removing visual noise only works when what remains feels intentional. Empty space alone does not create differentiation.

03

Aspiration without specificity.

Beauty language often relies on broad ideas around confidence, glow and self-care. LUMA needs a sharper perspective to make those ideas feel ownable.

04

Aesthetic before system.

A beautiful launch can quickly lose consistency when the identity has not been designed to support content, digital, campaigns and future product growth.

THE CHALLENGE

Create softness without becoming forgettable.

LUMA needs to feel refined and approachable while still creating enough contrast, personality and consistency to be recognized across a crowded beauty landscape.

The opportunity is not to reject the codes of modern beauty, but to use them with greater discipline and a more specific point of view.

Four priorities should shape the project.

These priorities define what needs to be solved before developing the final identity and brand experience.

01
DISTINCTION

Identify visual and verbal characteristics that feel specific to LUMA rather than simply appropriate for the beauty category.

02
TRUST

Balance aesthetic aspiration with enough clarity, restraint and credibility for the brand to feel considered rather than superficial.

03
RECOGNITION

Build repeatable behaviors in typography, composition, imagery and language that strengthen memory over time.

04
FLEXIBILITY

Create a system capable of supporting future products, campaigns and content without becoming visually inconsistent.

THE CENTRAL TENSION LUMA BEAUTY

Soft enough to feel inviting. Distinct enough to be remembered.

STRATEGIC QUESTION

How can LUMA feel quiet without disappearing?
